I have been shaving my head myself for the past 17 years. I have predominantly been using barber style clippers with plastic guide attachments and have found that it is a simple, efficient way to cut my hair on my own while achieving consistent results. I saw the Remington Shortcut while shopping retail last night and decided to give it a try. The reviews were good and there is a 30-day money back guarantee so I had nothing to lose. I followed the instructions verbatim and this is what I found:
#1 - The clippers will not operate while plugged in so you must rely on battery power which didn't seem to provide smooth consistent power during the cut (even after the recommended initial 16 hour charge time.) At times I could hear the motor struggling to maintain power.
#2 - The sideburn attachment was not able to cut all of the hairs. I literally had to make more than five attempts to get a clean, even line on my sideburn.
#3 - When finished, I looked in the mirror and I could see lines up and down the back of my head where I did not receive a clean and even cut. I think this is a great design if you are cutting the hair on a manikin with a perfectly curved head but on a real person, it is too difficult to get in hard to reach spots where your head may be slightly uneven.
Bottom line, I'm returning it today and sticking with my standard barber style clippers that work great!

My husband's stylist just bought a much more expensive one to use in his shop and he used it on my husband's beard. Wow, finally a good even trim! So we bought this one and now he just runs it around his face every other day to keep a well-groomed beard! Great product, don't know about the head but on the face it's great!

I love this thing. At first I was kinda skeptical but then I used it and loved it. It does a perfect job every time. I have no idea how I ever managed without it lol. Now I can buzz cut my own hair. No more trying to find someone to do it for me.

I've had a buzz cut for 20-some years and have gone through countless clippers with mixed results. I saw these on a gadget website and had to try it ... and I love it. I use it every couple of days to keep everything neat, usually while walking around the back yard. Extremely simple and nearly impossible to "mess up". The only downside I have found after using for 4 months is that it is a little difficult to get the side of my head in front of my ears since it is flat there and the blade is curved -- but otherwise I highly recommend if you have a short cut.

This thing is very nice, cuts close and good. After a couple of times, you become a pro at cutting your own hair. It's just like shaving every day, just grab and trim, and your done. I Love mine, and my wife is happy now that she does not have to cut my hair any more.

The Shortcut Clipper is great for an even, short, haircut, but make sure to follow the instructions and charge it for 14 - 18 hours before using. The instructions also say the light at the bottom of the unit glows green when it is fully charged, but the writers must have been colorblind because it never glows green. Actually, it is a blue light at the bottom that indicates a full charge.
